“Special Affects”

“Special Affects” is a series of stories about people, families, organizations and more in the special needs community. Our dream is to create a new video each month. One month you may laugh, the next cry, then perhaps get angry about an injustice in the world. We want to share the countless ways in which “Special Affects” the world around us. So if you are, or know someone, who would be interested in possibly appearing in the series please EMAIL US HERE.

If you are someone interested in contributing financially to the production of the film please EMAIL US HERE to find out how to make a tax-deductible donation to help this project.

Over the Edge, San Francisco, for Special Olympics:

On July 22 & 23, 2011, 84 people stepped “Over the Edge” and off the roof of the Grand Hyatt hotel in San Francisco. They did it to raise money for the Special Olympics, for a combined total of more than $135,000.

We are fortunate to have the assistance of Michael Pritchard with the film production, “Special Affects.” Through Michaels’ foundation, tax-deductible donations can be made to help this film become a reality. EMAIL US HERE for more details!

Susan and steve we would love to help. We are also among the 10% that didn’t terminate and never even considered it. Gretchen is 8 and I cry just thinking about the fact that someone might say her life isn’t worth living. She’s more like typical 8 year olds than different. In fact, I would argue she’s doing more living than most. Can’t wait to meet you and baby adam when he comes home. I love this website. Thank you.

Dear Susan and Steve…you will never,, never regret your decision to bring Adam into this world. You cannot know what love and a blessing he will be to you and your family. I have a down syndrome brother who is now 48 yrs old who lives with me. Our mother was killed in an auto accident in 1989 when he was 23 yrs old and our Dad had a heart attack and died in 2001. “Skeeter” as everyone knows him has lived with me since1992. We have 2other sisters and 1 other brother. We have never a day treated him other than a “normal” person. He never meets a stranger and he never holds grudges. If he gets angry with someone, 10 min. later he is over it and forgets it. Oh for all of us to be like him. People feel “sorry” for down syndrome people, when in fact they are much, much more happy and content than we will ever be. Just know that your life will be a “trip”..haha but one that you will never regret. Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful and wonderful Adam.
